Feeding the soul with Mont Géle (30cm x 25cm)

£310.00

Feeding the soul with Mont Géle is inspired by the peak of the same name in Verbier. It’s a stunning mountain that dominates the Verbier ski area, and is a common point of reference from most of the pistes around. We’ve skied around it many times and always look forward to returning to it when we’re back! I just had to paint it again to be able to share it with you.

Oil paint on stretched canvas, unframed.

A certificate of authenticity is included.

The mountains help me to exhale, unwind and rest - and I hope these paintings make you feel the same way!

The story behind the New Beginnings Collection

Last December I was ski race training with my technically blind husband in Kaunertal, Austria - we ski race together for Great Britain and are working towards the 2026 Paralympics. Unfortunately, while training between Christmas and New Year, I had a bad crash and broke my tibia plateau in my leg even more badly.

It was a gruelling recovery over 9 months (3 of which were completely non-weight bearing in a wheelchair) and there were times when I was extremely low in my mood. I distracted myself with painting as much as I could and spent the summer of 2023 doing my physiotherapy, gaining strength and painting my beloved mountains.

And as I write this, I’m back in Kaunertal after ski training for the first time since my crash. So it seems only fitting that I call my newest collection the ‘New Beginnings' collection - because that’s really what it feels like. I still have my ACL (that was repaired 6 years ago!); my leg is now pretty much healed and I can ski guide my husband again. LIFE IS GOOD.

And I want to celebrate that by sharing my favourite mountains with you - because everyone deserves mountain magic in their lives!

Why the mountain obsession?

For me they are the ultimate. The ultimate strength; the ultimate height; the ultimate power. When standing on top of them, they give a sense of perspective that’s hard to find anywhere else in the world. When skiing down then I get a thrill and sense of shared joy and fun that I don’t get anywhere else in the world. And when I’m at the bottom looking up, they give such a solid sense of reassurance. I’m the happiest I ever am in the world.

And I want to share this. I want to share the benefits of the mountings with more and more people. I tried to capture those feelings and express them through my paint. I want to give you something different; something fun and something joyful.

All proceeds from my art go to funding our disabled ski racing career.
